For severe postoperative complications, age ≥60 and ≥70 y; male sex; BMI ≥25 and ≥30 kg/m2; dyspnea; ADL requiring assistance within 30 d; history of cardiac surgery; long‐term steroid use; platelet count <120 000/μL; serum albumin <2.8 g/dL; eGFR <30 mL/min/1.73 m2; activated partial thromboplastin time ≥40 s; ASA‐PS grade ≥3; cancer of the ampulla of Vater; pancreatic cancer; and gallbladder cancer N1–2 were significant independent risk factors.
