We found shape changes in the left pallidum being associated with anxiety scores in the ALS subgroup with fast progression. A prior study showed a reduction of dopaminergic transmission in the globus pallidus with increased anxiety‐like behavior (G et al. 2020). It has also been shown in animal studies that a knockdown of CRFR1 mRNA expression in the mice globus pallidus elicited a significant increase in anxiety‐like behavior (Sztainberg et al. 2011).
