This strategy has potential to induce SL in humancancers with pre-existing HR gene deficiencies (HRD), e.g., BRCA1/2mutations, as well as sensitize cancer cells to PARP inhibitors (PARPis),which are the current standard treatment for HRD cancers.−, In addition, we posit that EXO1i(s) would display greater specificitythan PARPis for SL with HRD because PARPs participate in a wide arrayof other cellular processes such as transcription and translation, whereas EXO1 does not. This evidence concerns the gene BRCA1 and cancer.
