Drugs such as gemfibrozil, cyclosporin A, rifampicin, and RTV, which are OATP1B1 and OATP1B3 inhibitors, may cause major side effects such as myopathy when they are administered with lipid-lowering statins, which are OATP substrates [27,47-49]. This evidence concerns the gene SLCO1B1 and myopathy.
