APOB and chronic kidney disease: Our meta-analysis of clinical trials assessing the effect of plant protein intake on the lipidemic profile of adult CKD patients demonstrates that increased plant protein intake, compared to an animal-based diet, resulted in a statistically significant reduction of 24 mg/dL in total cholesterol, 22 mg/dL in LDL cholesterol, 22 mg/dL in triglycerides, and 11 mg/dL in Apolipoprotein B levels.
