The lack of consistency in correlations in hsa-miR-21-5p and hsa-mir-145-5p and estrogen-related (ESR1, ESR2, PELP1, SRC) and hypoxia–neovascularization-dependent genes (HIF1A, HIF2A/EPAS1, and VEGFA) in ovarian cancer across all groups suggests that the relationship between these miRNAs and the selected genes is context-specific. The gene discussed is EPAS1; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
