The current study also included estimation of possible interaction between NEP and acetylcholinesterase (AChE; EC 3.1.7) based on literature reports indicating that (i) AChE and dopamine (DA) were co-released from the neurons that degenerated in various neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases, and (ii) DβH activity strongly correlated with AChE [20,21]. Here, ACHE is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
