To our surprise, we did not observe any relationship between cardiac function (including pulmonary hypertension, left ventricular systolic function, and NT-proBNP levels) and the concentration of galectin-3, despite galectin-3 being widely recognized as a promising biomarker not only in systemic sclerosis patients but also in the general population with cardiovascular diseases [17,18,19]. The gene discussed is NPPB; the disease is systemic sclerosis.
