No expression of this gene was detected in non-cancerous tissues, while more than half of LSIL (low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion) samples showed its presence, and in HSIL (high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion) and cervical cancer biopsies, KCNMA1 expression was found in all cases [19].
