Animal experiments have shown that electroacupuncture (EA) at SP6 improves spatial learning ability in rats with daytime cognitive dysfunction after insomnia, possibly related to the upregulation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF)/Tropomyosin receptor kinase B (TrkB) signaling and inhibition of neuronal apoptosis after EA (Lina et al., 2023). This evidence concerns the gene BDNF and insomnia.
