Gene deletion and downregulation of DLC1 gene expression or protein levels frequently occur in many different types of cancers, including those of the breast, and such alterations have been shown to promote migration and invasion in vitro, and tumor formation and metastasis in vivo. Although DLC1 has been identified in a ZEB1/YAP target gene set [15], the precise role of DLC1 in EMT has not yet been investigated. This evidence concerns the gene DLC1 and cancer.
