The opposite reaction was seen in serum PTH, where men with hypercalcemia had a decrease in PTH from 1.0 pmol/L (SD 0.7) at baseline, to 2.1 pmol/L (SD 2) after 48 months, with a significant difference (p < 0.001) when compared to men with normocalcemia (Fig. 3D).
