Wild‐type obese mice displayed an increased number of P53+ senescent cells in the bone marrow (especially senescent BMMs), low bone mass, and decreased osteoblasts on the bone surface compared with lean controls, whereas Gca‐KO mice showed resistance to the obesity‐induced phenotypes of skeletal deterioration (Figure 1M–P). The gene discussed is GCA; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
