Subsequent studies in methylation profiles in HCC patients showed that promoter hypermethylation of the Ras association domain family 1 A (RASSF1A) was present in 90% of HCC cases, and this methylation pattern could help distinguish HCC from healthy controls or patients with chronic HCV infections, with a prediction accuracy of 77.5% and 72.5% respectively [70]. The gene discussed is RASSF1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
