In colorectal cancer, açaí decreased myeloperoxidase (MPO) and cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β) and interleukin 6 (IL-6), and inhibited cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2), also reinforcing its anti-inflammatory effect. Here, TNF is linked to colorectal cancer.
