NPHS1 and idiopathic nephrotic syndrome: F.E. Hengel and colleagues found that circulating anti-nephrin autoantibodies are prevalent among children with MCD; in a study of 182 children with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome, 94 (52%) had detectable anti-nephrin autoantibodies, which were strongly correlated with the urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (10).
