HNRNPK protein levels were found to be elevated in the HSCs (CD34+) (21 of 27, 78%) from patients with Fanconi anemia (10 of 11, 91%); Diamond-Blackfan anemia (6 of 8, 75%), and aplastic anemia (5 of 8, 62%), with 50% HNRNPK+ cells and greater than grade 2 intensity when compared with the bone marrow samples from the control group (4 of 13, 30%). Here, HNRNPK is linked to Blackfan-Diamond anemia.
