Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) has pioneered the era of precision medicine, being the first human cancer for which a “magic bullet” specifically targeting p210, the oncogenic protein derived by chimeric BCR::ABL1 fusion gene with constitutive tyrosine kinase activity causing the disease, was developed [1]. The gene discussed is ABL1; the disease is chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
