In a mouse model, inactivated B16F10 cells were given a vaccine with luteolin as an adjuvant, and the authors found that luteolin could increase antigen presentation through the PI3K-Akt pathway, increase the expression of IL-4 cytokines to activate Th2 cells and IFN-γ to activate a Th1-type immune response, decrease regulatory T-cell numbers, and ultimately enhance CTL responses to increase tumor cell killing. The gene discussed is IFNG; the disease is neoplasm.
