All these findings point to the possibility that BPA exposure modifies SMC-MCAs’ vascular homeostasis by interfering with the NO and sGC pathways and may, thus, be connected to the development of ischemic stroke episodes, which are the most common type of vascular disease and, as such, are a major concern for human health, as they rank among the world’s leading causes of death and disability. This evidence concerns the gene SGCB and ischemic stroke.
