In the DKFZ cohort of early onset prostate cancers, the group with high mean TRPM4 mRNA expression, defined in this case as a z score above 0 compared to all samples (n = 64, 54.2%), also had a higher frequency of Gleason score 6 and 7 cancers (89.1%) compared to the group of lower TRPM4 expressors, who had Gleason scores of 6 and 7 in 79.6% of cases, but this difference did not reach statistical significance (Fisher’s exact test p = 0.2, Table 6). The gene discussed is TRPM4; the disease is prostate cancer.
