A study conducted in a mouse model of CMT4D with total Ndrg1 deficiency demonstrated that NDRG1 is probably involved in the regulation of ECM remodelling, lipid metabolism and transport, Schwann cell development, myelin proteins, cytoskeleton proteins, inflammation, cell cycle, and signalling [88]. Here, NDRG1 is linked to Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 4D.
