MC4R and polycystic ovary syndrome: Mechanistic data from the same study suggest that the melanocortin‐4‐receptor (MC4R), which activates sympathetic and inhibits parasympathetic preganglionic neurones in the brainstem (Girardet & Butler, 2014; Sohn et al., 2013), is important in modulating SNA and blood pressure in this PCOS model.
