FCGR2B and hypertensive disorder: FcγRIIA is a low-affinity Fcγ receptor that binds IgG2 and may influence hypertension through its effect on the pro-inflammatory activities of vascular smooth muscle cells.46,47 Manipulation of the gene FcγRIIB, which encodes the largely homologous Fcγ receptor IIB, has been demonstrated to directly correlate with hypertension in animal models.48 In humans, variation in FcγRIIB is significantly associated with preeclampsia risk.49
