CD47 and Cognitive impairment: DeVries et al. utilized the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) of rhesus monkeys of different ages as a model to study changes in synaptic pruning associated with aging (DeVries et al., 2024) and reported that with increasing age, synaptic loss occurred, the expression of the pro-pruning factor C1q increased, whereas CD47 expression decreased, ultimately leading to cognitive impairment.
