The diagnostic criteria for atypical neurofibroma (ANNUBP) require the presence of a neurofibroma base alongside at least two of the following features: cellular atypia; increased cellular density; loss of neurofibroma structural integrity (e.g., fascicular growth pattern and/or absence of the CD34+ fibroblast network); and the presence of mitotic figures (≥1/50 HPF and <3/10 HPF or <1.5/mm2) (1, 2). This evidence concerns the gene CD34 and plexiform neurofibroma.
