APOE and atherosclerosis: The transplantation of bone marrow cells from LXRα/β-deficient mice exacerbated atherosclerosis in both Apo E-deficient and LDLR-deficient mice [177] (Table 2), and the atheroprotective effects of the LXR agonist T0901317 were abolished in LXRα/β-knockout cell-transplanted mice [178], demonstrating the atheroprotective functions of LXRs in hematopoietic cells.
