JB6 has beenshown to suppress Parkinson’s pathology and cell death in mouseand cell models.,, It is present within the center of Lewy bodies and has been foundto be downregulated in Parkinson’s disease patients.,, A mutated form of JB6 (T193A)has also been found to increase the risk of Parkinson’s diseasein carriers of a mutation in the β-glucocerebrosidase gene. In vitro, JB6 suppresses the fibril formationof several amyloidogenic proteins such as polyglutamine peptide,,, amyloid β peptide (Aβ),,, and TDP43. This evidence concerns the gene TARDBP and Parkinson disease.
