Poorly cohesive carcinoma, on the other hand, demonstrated strong correlations between TNF-α and both CEA and CA72-4 (rho = 0.800, p < 0.001 for both), suggesting that different molecular pathways might drive the immunologic and tumor-marker interplay in these more aggressive forms of gastric carcinoma.
