Given recent reports of VITT‐like antibodies identified in TTS samples taken prior to the COVID‐19 pandemic,8 descriptions of adenovirus‐induced anti‐PF4‐associated immune thrombocytopenia and thrombosis13, 15, 16, 17, 18 and now this case with a CMV trigger, it is clear that anti‐PF4 mediated TTS is probably more common than previously thought. The gene discussed is PF4; the disease is autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura.
