AKT1 and systemic lupus erythematosus: Other explanations for the effects of TrblSLE/G on Akt derepression are formally possible: for example, because mammalian Trib isoforms can both activate and inhibit Akt depending on the isoform and the context (Naiki et al., 2007; Keeshan et al., 2010; Foulkes et al., 2018; Shen et al., 2021; Singh et al., 2023), it is possible that the SLE/G mutation uncovers a dual role for the single Drosophila isoform to either activate or block Akt phosphorylation depending on the context.
