Gastrinomas are neuroendocrine tumors that are characterized by hypersecretion of gastrin, resulting in Zollinger Ellison syndrome (ZES), of which nearly 80% are sporadic and the other 20-25% are associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome (MEN) type 1 [1,2]. The gene discussed is GAST; the disease is neuroendocrine neoplasm.
