The silymarin treatment improved liver function by decreasing the levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), superoxide dismutase/catalase (SOD/CAT), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARSs), hypertriglyceridemia, and hypercholesterolemia. Here, CAT is linked to familial hypercholesterolemia.
