The application of chemical inhibitors targeting the tyrosine kinase domain of EGFR, such as Gefitinib, has been shown to effectively reduce inflammatory bone loss in a ligature‐induced experimental periodontitis mouse model.[15, 16] Despite this, traditional EGFR inhibitors face significant limitations, including toxicity and the potential for drug resistance, which hinder their broader clinical application. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and periodontitis.
