IL6 and Alzheimer disease: Studies have shown that elevated cytokines and chemokines, such as IL‐6, CCL2, and CCL11, are present in both CSF and plasma and correlate with microglial activation as measured by TSPO PET,31, 32 Furthermore, elevated inflammatory markers like interleukin (IL)‐1β, tumor necrosis factor α (TNF‐α), and IL‐6 have been reported in post mortem AD brain specimens, correlating with neurodegeneration, highlighting their association with microglial activation and neuroinflammation.33
