Along with these above findings, the absence of CYP11A1 expression in TNBC cancer cells (Supplementary Fig. 1G) led us to hypothesise that immune cell steroidogenesis leads to local production of immunosuppressive steroids (e.g., glucocorticoids) that suppress anti-tumour immunity by hampering immune cell function. The gene discussed is CYP11A1; the disease is cancer.
