AKT1 and cancer: Mechanistically, the altered expression level of circRNAs, both endogenous and exosomal, observed in cancer cells has been associated with the deregulation of key cellular signaling pathways, such as PI3K/AKT/mTOR, Wnt, notch and hippo, p53/Bcl-2, and TGF-β/Smad, which in turn, in the context of carcinogenesis, influences cell proliferation, EMT, invasion, metastasis, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and the pharmacological response [494,495].
