According to a study conducted with E. agallocha in A549 and H1299 (human lung cancer) cell lines, western blot analysis of Bcl-2, Bax, p53, p21, and PARP (Poly (ADP-Ribose) Polymerase) gene expression revealed that p21 was significantly upregulated in both cell lines, and apoptosis of A549 cells led to significant upregulation of the p53 gene. The gene discussed is BCL2; the disease is lung carcinoma.
