Indeed, reducing critical body fat mass along with reverting to normoglycemia and eumetabolism has provided compelling evidence that a reduction in body weight of 10% or more in obese people with diabetes or pre-diabetes, e.g., through bariatric (=metabolic) surgery [37,38] or through the use of GLP-1 RA-based therapies (best in combination with metformin 21,24, see below), is associated with lower risks of specific types of obesity-associated cancers [39,40]. This evidence concerns the gene GLP1R and diabetes mellitus.
