Infections with p-hv strains were significantly associated with higher C-reactive protein (odds ratio [OR] = 1.03, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.00–1.07, P = 0.009), diabetes mellitus (OR = 2.22, 95% CI: 1.08–4.48, P = 0.031), liver abscesses (OR = 17.33, 95% CI: 5.43–66.46, P ≤ 0.001), respiratory tract infections (OR = 4.38, 95% CI: 1.76–10.57, P = 0.002), disseminated infections (OR = 15, 95% CI: 3.10–107.59, P = 0.001), and higher SOFA scores (OR = 17.33, 95% CI: 5.43–66.46, P ≤ 0.001) (Table 3).
