In the 72 (23.3%) patients who had pre-diagnostic knowledge of their BRCA1/2 or PALB2 pathogenic variant, there were no significant differences in age at breast cancer diagnosis, family history of breast or pancreatic cancer, or distribution of germline pathogenic variants compared to the 237 patients who underwent testing after diagnosis (all p > 0.05, Table 3). The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
