In a recent study by Hadar et al. that included 105 BRCA1/2 germline pathogenic variant carriers diagnosed with breast cancer, pre-diagnostic awareness of their BRCA1/2 status was similarly associated with earlier detection with higher rates of stage 0-I disease (86% vs. 39%, p < 0.001) as well as lower rates of chemotherapy receipt (29% vs. 79%, p < 0.001) [11]. The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
