Our findings, which show that the rs3844492/ARHGAP22 G allele isassociated with a worse profile of DKD markers and risk for DKD, align with theaforementioned studies, suggesting that, beyond its involvement in thepathophysiology of DR, the ARHGAP22 gene may also play a role inthe progression of renal damage in patients with T2DM. The gene discussed is ARHGAP22; the disease is diabetic kidney disease.
