Intriguingly, nSREBP1 levels increased in the livers of 6–8-week-old (i.e., young) Aoah-/- mice before MASLD developed; the expression of many SREBP1 target genes, such as those involved in fatty acid biosynthesis (Acly, Acaca, Acacb, Fasn, Scd1, Acss2), also increased. This evidence concerns the gene ACACB and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
