VPS41, a vacuolar sorting and lysosomal transport protein [35] mediates the conveyance of extracellular and intracellular signaling molecules, as well as other substances, from the plasma membrane to vacuoles or lysosomes for degradation.[35, 36] Early research showed that VPS41 inhibits apoptosis pathways by blocking Caspase‐9, Caspase‐3 activation, and PARP cleavage, providing neuroprotection against toxins like 6‐OHDA and rotenone.[35] Additionally, VPS41 deficiency in β‐cells impairs insulin secretion, leading to diabetes.[37]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and diabetes mellitus.
