Studies by Wang et al. demonstrate that FTO decreases the stability of ACSL3 and GPX4 mRNA in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) by demethylating m6A modifications, which reduces the expression of ACSL3 and GPX4, promotes ferroptosis, and impedes OSCC progression (Wang Z. et al., 2023). This evidence concerns the gene GPX4 and oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma.
