Studies have shown that the regulatory effect of S100A8/A9 on the activity of tumor cells depends on their concentration: at high concentrations, S100A8/A9 inhibit tumor cell growth and promote their apoptosis, whereas at low concentrations, they exhibit the opposite effect (Kwon et al., 2013; Ghavami et al., 2008).
