For example, TRIM21‐mediated K48‐linked polyubiquitylation on VDAC2 is associated with poor prognosis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients,[27] whereas the TRIM21‐mediated proteasomal degradation of SREBF1 has been shown to be beneficial in preventing renal cancer tumorigenesis.[44] In our study, TRIM21 induces K48‐linked polyubiquitylation and proteasomal degradation of HMGA2, a process dependent on HMGA2pS105 levels.
