INS and Insulin resistance: Since the increased synthesis of triglycerides and LDL-C in pregnancy is mediated through elevation of insulin resistance in the second half of pregnancy, myoinositol and D-chiro inositol, the two inositol isomers that have shown effectiveness in increasing insulin sensitivity and restoring ovulation in women with the polycystic ovarian syndrome and reduction of follicle-stimulating hormone among menopausal women may have a future role in the management of women at risk of hyperlipidemia in pregnancy [71,72].
