The most extensively studied inflammasome in SNHL is the NLRP3 inflammasome [153], which is involved in ototoxicity and the HL induced by numerous factors such as noise exposure [154, 155], aging [156, 157], cisplatin treatment [158, 159], kanamycin treatment [160], tumors [161], viral infections [162], oxygen-glucose deprivation/reperfusion [163], unconjugated bilirubin [164], and cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome (CAPS)-associated NLRP3 mutations [165].
