In a long-term study (10 years follow-up), including 86 patients with adult-onset pituitary disease who received HGH replacement therapy, four patients died, one from renal carcinoma, one from omental cancer, one from pulmonary edema (probably secondary to an acute myocardial infarction), and a fourth from cerebral infarction. This evidence concerns the gene GH1 and myocardial infarction.
